Veterinary Science Profession Interview Form
Students are required to complete the Veterinary Science Profession Interview Form by interviewing a credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, or CVT) who is currently employed in a veterinary clinic setting. This form is emailed to accepted pre–Veterinary Technology students who have completed all required prerequisites or have remaining prerequisites in progress. Submission of the completed interview form is required for full admission into the Veterinary Technology program. This requirement is set by Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s accrediting body, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Vaccinations
Effective August 2024, all current and incoming Veterinary Technology students must have received the rabies immunization series and tetanus immunization. These immunizations are an accreditation requirement and admission to the program cannot be allowed without proof of vaccines.
Health Insurance
Health insurance is also a requirement for admission into the Veterinary Technology program.
Vet Tech Shadowing Experience
After acceptance into the Veterinary Technology program, students are highly encouraged to complete a minimum of 20 hours of shadowing experience with a credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, or CVT) in a veterinary clinic setting. This shadowing experience should be completed prior to the start of fall semester classes and is designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to the daily responsibilities and expectations of the profession. More information will be given during the course registration process, and there is a verification form that will be given at this time.
Student Shadowing
Although not an admissions requirement, we strongly encourage students to shadow a current Ridgewater Veterinary Technology student.
